Land

Chitina Native Corporation holds title to approximately 115,000 acres of surface estate.

For more than 6,000 years, our people have been the stewards of these lands and resources.  These lands are one of the most valuable assets of our corporation, and we are charged with protecting them for current and future generations.  Our heritage, culture and history come through our connection with our lands and the natural resources that continue to support and provide for our people.

One of Chitina’s corporate values is respect, which includes respect for the land and promoting responsible stewardship of Chitina's resources. The company prioritizes the use of its land by Shareholders and Descendants for cultural, subsistence, and recreational activities. When the activities align with Chitina values, the company may also offer access opportunities to the general public.

  • Everyone who wishes to access Chitina land, including Shareholders and Descendants, must have a recreational use permit.

  • Members of the general public who apply for recreational use permits will be charged a fee. Fees do NOT apply to Chitina Shareholders and Descendants.

Permitting

Permitting is required for all Chitina land use and access. Please complete and return the Lands Access Permit requested to info@chitinacorp.com.

Like many rural private properties, Chitina’s land is vulnerable to trespass. Trespass activities are inclusive of recreational and vehicular trespass, timber harvesting, hunting, trapping, fishing, gathering, hiking and illegal camping.  Unauthorized use of Chitina land is prohibited and trespassing is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Land inspections of all Chitna lands are conducted on a regular basis and  Chitna advertises and posts warnings about the location of its private lands. Please respect Chitina Native Corporation’s desire to manage and protect their private property.

If you have questions regarding Chitina’s recreational use permitting policy or any questions about Chitina’s lands, email info@chitinacorp.com.
